Welcome to the Youth Mentor Program!
The Youth Mentor Program (YMP) is designed to encourage and develop new and upcoming youth referees. Youth members will gain the confidence and experience they need to be successful referees, on and off the field. The YMP is managed by Ryan Van Duyne, a National Referee Candidate, with the help of David Raygoza, Lisa Contreras and Adam Clark who have over 47 years of experience and knowledge.
The YMP works by assigning youth to special fields set aside specifically for the advancement of youth referees. This provides youth the opportunity to work closely with experienced referees during their training on and off the field. We strongly encourage youth referees to ask questions at any time during their training experience to ensure that they are getting the most out of their intimate sessions. Please do not hesitate to ask questions. There is never a better time to ask than the present.
The YMP also encourages parents to support their children during this wonderful experience. While we know that some parents are also referees themselves, we strongly recommend that parents do not offer referee advice during their training sessions. The initial training of any referee is the most crucial and we ask that parents please do not interfere. We prefer that the youth not have contradictory information or outside “habits” that can affect their career. We strongly recommend that any parental guidance on technique or the laws of the game be run through the YMP administration prior to instructing the youth. If parents have any questions please feel free to contact any of the YMP administrators. We are more than happy to accept your ideas and answer any questions that you may have on the concepts of the program.
Sincerely,
The Youth Mentoring Program Administration
Ryan Van Duyne (Ibemadskillz@aol.com) David Raygoza (GldnEegl6@aol.com) Lisa Contreras (LContreras@westernu.edu) Adam Clark (adam5jasaml@yahoo.com)
