LAST MEETING
Your Chair was waiting but

YOU  MISSED OUT!

Joyce Jung ~ Assessment Coordinator

Dear Officials,

If you would like to upgrade this year, now is the time to start planning. Please be aware of the upgrade clinics available to us. (Check the website for times and locations). Check the Referee Handbook to make sure that all the requirements are meant for the grade you wish to upgrade to. Remember, when you request an upgrade, be ready to upgrade. There are not enough games to "practice" on. Most Grade 8 to Grade 7 upgrades will take place during the Coast season. (September through November).

Any questions, don't hesitate to email.

Officials,

Please remember that if you wish to upgrade and/or maintain your current grade, you must let me know ASAP. Also, please cc Fran or Buzz with your request. The following items are important:

    1.  Please make sure that you have the game count when you are attempting to upgrade. Also, please make sure that you have the time in grade. You must spend at least one year in grade. This includes the crossovers from AYSO. The Referee Administrative Handbook (this can be found on the USSF website) will give you the information, for the grade you want to attain.

    2.  At this time, you do not need a maintenance match for grade 7. You still must take the physical and the test to retain a grade 7. SGVSRA offers the physical and the test for grade 7 and 8 officials. Please check our website for the dates.

    3.  Grade 6 and above must attend any of the clinics offered by the state. Please check our website for the dates.

    4.  Please be flexible when wishing to upgrade. There aren't enough "practice" games, so when you request an upgrade, be ready. Remember, as the season goes on, the "older" games do not always go off as planned, so if you really need a game, try to get it ASAP.

    5.  Please remember that you must pay the assessor the day of the game. If the assessor is at the field and the game does not go off, (no coach, no cards, etc.) you must still pay the assessor. If you encounter an assessor that is not "professional", please notify me ASAP. The rate is $50.00 for the center and if the AR's are assessed, it is an additional $10.00 for both. It should not exceed $60.00. This means that each official will receive an written assessment.

If you are upgrading to or requesting a maintenance for state, YOU must contact Lee Popejoy for your assessor. Please contact Mr. Popejoy as soon as Fran assigns your assessment match. She will contact me, as a courtesy, to let me know that the match has been assigned and I can update my paperwork. The telephone and/or email address for Mr. Popejoy is on the website.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
